A Commission on Elections (COMELEC) officer in Piddig, Ilocos Norte collapsed while delivering a speech during a peace covenant signing and was later declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police said Judy Adriano, 56, felt dizzy suddenly and lost consciousness while addressing the candidates.
Officers and attendees rushed him to Piddig District Hospital, but he was later transferred to the provincial hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
According to the attending physician, Adriano died due to acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), diabetes mellitus type 2, and hypertension.
