Officials and candidates in Cagayan de Oro City gathered on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, for a unity walk and signing of peace covenant for a safe and honest elections two days before the campaign period for local positions starts on Friday, March 28.

The unity walk started from Rodelsa Circle in Barangay Nazareth and ended at the Amphitheater in Divisoria.

After the unity walk, candidates signed a peace covenant to signify their sincerity in upholding the integrity of the upcoming polls.

During the program, the poll body reiterated the provisions of the Fair Elections Act and the campaign rules.

“Briefing about sa campaign materials particularly sa Fair Elections Act didto dayun sa kontra bigay nga resolution namo sa commission, anti-vote buying ug anti-vote selling,” Atty. Ramil Acol, election officer for the 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro, said.

COMELEC hopes that the campaign period and the election in the city will be peaceful.

“Wala’y angay kahadlokan nato diri kung unsa ang mga panghitabo kuan lang gyud kayo sa mga supporters siguro medyo naay emosyon pero tolerable ra kayo controllable ra ang situation and friendly atmosphere man ganina gyud.”

COMELEC will also continue to remove campaign materials posted in non-designated common poster areas.
