The City Internal Affairs Service (CIAS) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) has launched an investigation into the killing of a supposed police asset, allegedly by a policeman, in Barangay Camaman-an.

CIAS chief, Lt. Col. Henry Cay-as, said they are already gathering evidence against the suspect.

“Atong buhaton ani, atong ipatubag atong padal-an og summon ang maong allegedly suspek nga mihimo sa pagpamusil. After nga makatubag siya atong schedulan og hearing dinhi sa opisina pwede siya magdala og abogado,” Cay-as said.

CIAS added that while the suspect tested negative for the paraffin test, it doesn’t necessarily mean he did not discharge his firearm.

If proven guilty, the suspect may be dismissed from the police service.

“Pag gigamit niya ang iyang armas nag-serve na siya as aggravating circumstance tungod kay ang armas nga gi-isyu dapat ato ng gamiton sa pagpanalipud sa katawhan. Mapamatud-an nga iyang gigamit ang iyang armas that will serve as aggravating circumstance nga makapadako pa sa ka grabe sa penalty,” Cay-as said.

CIAS assured the public that the investigation will be fair and impartial.

“Ang among opisina sa Internal Affairs Service is considered as the police of the police ug gitawag gani ta nga watchdog of the PNP so naa mo’y maduolan,” Cay-as added.

The suspect, a police master sergeant, was arrested a few hours after the victim was shot dead.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
