At least 21 students were rushed to the Talisay City Health Center in the Province of Negros Occidental morning on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
The 21 Grade 3 pupils of Bubog Elementary School in Talisay City complained of feeling ill. Some of them complained of stomachache, while others went vomiting.
Mialyn Pineda, mother of a patient, said that her child complained of stomach pain but did not exhibit vomiting.
“Sumasakit ang tiyan niya. Hindi siya nagsusuka pero sumasakit ang kanyang tiyan,” Pineda said.
Gina Brasa, a grandmother, said that her grandchild also complained of feeling ill.
“Sinabi niya sa guro niya na masakit ang kanyang tiyan. Kaya tinawagan ng guro ang nanay niya. Pumunta ako,” Brasa said.
A teacher at Bubog Elementary School identified as Rena Joy Calapas checked on the food that the students had eaten earlier in the day.
“Tinanong ko kung ano ang kinain nila first hour in the morning,” Calapas said.
The City Health Office (CHO) of Talisay City has investigated on whether the incident is a case of food poisoning.
“Nineteen plus two, 21 mga students experienced abdominal pain. Ang lima sa kanila, nagsusuka,” said Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, officer in charge of CHO Talisay City.
Samples of possible food items eaten by the students were collected for examination.
As of this writing, the students are already fine.
They were advised to go home after receiving treatment.
Classes were suspended temporarily on March 26, 2025 because of the incident.
