A man was caught on closed circuit television (CCTV) sneaking into a pharmacy in Barangay Lakandula, Mabalacat City, Pampanga and was arrested later trying to escape through the same exhaust vent he used to enter.
According to police reports, a security guard heard the store's alarm go off at around 8 a.m.
He checked the area immediately and sought help from another guard at a nearby store. They alerted police officers stationed nearby quickly.
“May napansin po ‘yung guard… na nag-a-alarm ang kanilang establishment. Nang marinig niya ito, kasama ang iba pang guwardiya mula sa katabing tindahan, agad nilang sinuri ang paligid,” Pampanga Police Provincial Director PCOL. Jay Dimaandal said.
“Napansin nila na natanggal ang exhaust fan. Tumawag agad ng pulis ang isang guwardiya, kaya mabilis na rumesponde ang ating kapulisan,” Dimaandal added.
Officers from the Mabalacat City Police Station arrived swiftly and found the suspect, a 28-year-old local resident, attempting to exit through the exhaust vent.
“Tatakas na po sana siya kasi doon din siya dumaan papasok. Nakakapagtaka kung paano siya nagkasya sa exhaust fan. Ngayon, halos 90% ng ating mga pulis ay nasa lansangan upang magsagawa ng live patrols,” Dimaandal said.
Authorities recovered P10,000 in cash and two mobile phones from the suspect, who is now in police custody and facing criminal charges.
He has yet to release a statement.
