Fishermen in Dagupan City are back at sea after weeks of strong waves, helping increase the fish supply at the Magsaysay Fish Market.
"Nakapalaot na ako, maganda na ang huli ngayon," Marvin Paras, a fisherman, said.
According to PAGASA-Dagupan Chief Meteorological Officer Engr. Jose Estrada Jr., the weakening of the northeast monsoon has calmed the waters, making it safer for fishermen.
"Kapag kasi may northeast talagang mataas ang alon sa dagat, pero ngayong easterlies, kalmado na," Estrada added.
With more fishermen working, the supply of various fish has risen. However, prices remain high for some varieties.
As of March 26, 2025, fish prices per kilo at the Magsaysay Fish Market are:
- Malaga: P380-P400
- Galunggong: P250-P270
- Tilapia: P100
- Pusit: P200
- Yellowfin: P280

- Sapsap: P380
- Salmon: P180
- Talakitok: P370
- Oriles: P160
- Bisugo: P330

Traders hope the steady supply will stabilize prices in the coming weeks.
