As the summer heat intensifies, residents of Barangay Embarcadero in Mangaldan are facing water shortages, with deep wells drying up.

To cope with the situation, Rod Muyergas, a resident, decided to relocate his deep well this week, hoping to find a new water source. He also extended its pipes to increase the chances of drawing water.

"Hindi na kasi kinakaya ng deep well, natutuyo na talaga," Muyergas said.

Aside from relying on deep wells, Muyergas and his neighbors also opted to connect to the Mangaldan Water District (MAWAD) to secure a stable water supply.

"Mahirap na walang tubig kasi wala kaming gagamitin kaya nagpakabit na kami," he added.

According to MAWAD, the demand for water connections has increased significantly due to the hot weather.

While the usual number of applications is around 30 per month, recent months have seen the number rise to over 45.

"Water is in demand, lahat talaga nangangailangan, and lahat naman po ng barangay natin ay mayroon nang mga sources," MAWAD spokesperson Demmie Carbonel said.

Despite the surge in water consumers, MAWAD assured they have enough supply to meet the town’s needs.
