Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever in the Province of Iloilo have reached over 1,000, while seven cases of death were recorded.
Based on data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO), a total of 1,128 cases of dengue was recorded from January 1, 2025 to March 22, 2025.
The figures showed a 78-percent increase in cases compared to the 635 recorded in the same period in 2024.
According to the data, the Municipality of San Joaquin has the most number of cases at 85; Oton is on second spot with 70 cases, Leon with 66, Cabatuan with 51, while the rest of the areas in the province have all logged dengue cases.
For dengue deaths, the figure has remained at seven cases, as of this writing. Of the cases mentioned, two were recorded each in the Municipalities of Pototan and Carles, and one case each in Oton, Tigbauan, and Balasan towns.
In an interview of GMA Super Radyo Iloilo with Rodney Labis, chief of the Health Service Delivery Division of IPHO, based on age distribution, children ages one year old to nine years old have topped the list. A total of 398 are males, while a total of 224 are females.
IPHO has again reminded schools and communities to observe religiously the Department of Health’s 4S strategy anti-dengue program which stands for Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Seek early consultation, Secure self-protection, and Support fogging or spraying.
