A 32-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to sneak suspected shabu into the city jail in Valencia City, Bukidnon.

The alleged substance was concealed in a bag of rice.

The suspect went to the jail supposedly to visit her husband but jail personnel discovered sachets of suspected shabu buried in the rice she brought for him.

“Paabot o tunol unta nga rice pero upon searching sa atong mga kauban sa trabaho sa Valencia City Jail Male Dormitory, nakita nga naa’y murag shabu nga suspicious nga substances nga gihinalaan pa naman nga shabu,” Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Northern Mindanao (BJMP-10) Spokesperson, Jail Insp. Melanie Madarieta, said.

The suspected shabu weighed around three grams and had an estimated street value of P24,000.

The woman is facing charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165). She has yet to issue a statement.

Following the incident, BJMP-10 said it will intensify inspections to prevent contraband from being smuggled into detention facilities.
