Four Chinese nationals allegedly involved in fraud and smuggling were arrested in Barangay Nueva Vida, M’lang, Cotabato on Monday, March 24, 2025.

According to the 6th Infantry Division (6ID), the foreigners were allegedly involved in fraudulent activities and smuggling operations at a manufacturing firm in the barangay.

The 6ID did not specify the activities and what the suspects alleged smuggled exactly.

Investigation disclosed that the four have either working without valid visas or had misrepresented their visa status.

6ID commander, Major General Donald Gumiran, said the military plays a crucial role in supporting law enforcement operations as the troops helped secure the area and ensure that the mandate of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) was carried out without disruption, while adhering to legal protocols.

The operation was the result of the coordinated effort by the BI, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), military, and the police.

"The successful arrest of these individuals reflects the strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the military in upholding our nation's laws. The 6ID/JTFC remains committed to assisting government agencies in ensuring national security and protecting communities from illegal activities," Gumiran said.
