Domestic workers in Zamboanga Peninsula will get a P900 increase in their monthly salary starting April 3, 2025.
This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Zamboanga Peninsula (RTWPB-9) issued a wage order granting the increase in the monthly minimum wage for domestic workers.
In chartered cities and first class municipalities, the monthly wage for kasambahays will now be P5,500 from P4,600.
On the other hand, kasambahays in others municipalities will receive P5,000 from P4,100.
RTWPB-9 said it has received the petition from the ZAMPEN Association of Kasambahay (ZAK), seeking a P900 increase, on February 20, 2025. A region-wide public hearing was then conducted.
“After a thorough review and evaluation of the results of the public hearing, field survey, existing socio-economic conditions in the region, the needs of the domestic workers and their families, as well as the employer’s capacity to pay, the Board finds substantial basis and necessity to increase the prevailing minimum wage rates for domestic workers,” the order reads.
RTWPB-9 said the wage order shall apply to all domestic workers, whether in a live-in or live-out arrangement.
These domestic workers include general househelp, yaya, cook, gardener, laundry person, and any person who regularly performs domestic work in a household on an occupational basis.
