Two men were killed while another was injured in separate stabbing incidents in Cagayan de Oro City.
One of the fatalities was a 37-year-old man who was found lifeless in Barangay Cugman.
Police said the victim, his sibling, and the suspect were drinking together when an altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim’s sibling.
The sibling walked away to avoid further conflict, prompting the suspect to target the victim, instead.
The victim sustained at least 13 stab wounds.
“Mao to nasulod sa elemento sa murder kay nahulog ni siya nga gilipot gyud siya, una ang upat nga natamo sa likod sa biktima,” Cugman Police Station Chief, Major Jason Felicilda, said.
The suspect was arrested but did not give any statement.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man died while another man was injured after they were stabbed by a 41-year-old suspect in Barangay Tablon.
Police said the suspect reprimanded the victim’s group for being noisy while drinking.
However, the group allegedly beat the nephew of the suspect, prompting the latter to retaliate and stab some members of the group.
“Ang isa ani dead on arrival gyud siya then ang isa nakagawas na sa hospital mao pud to’y usa ka complainant katung kauban niya. Then magkuha pud ta og lain nga complainant actually daghan man sila kay mu-kooperar man sila sa atong ipasaka nga kaso,” Felicilda said.
Police arrested the suspect who will face homicide and attempted homicide charges.
“Kung naa ta’y mga problema pareha atong namadlong lang siya so tawag nata dayun og police assistance dili kay kita mismo ang magpakapulis,” Felicilda added.
