Two police officers were injured after a van crashed into a checkpoint in Barangay Minante 2, Cauayan City, Isabela.
Authorities said the van driver, a 35-year-old man from Mountain Province, was drunk allegedly.
The suspect's vehicle first hit a private sports utility vehicle (SUV) before plowing through the checkpoint.
The injured officers were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
PNP Regional Director, Brig. Gen. Antonio Marallag, Jr., awarded the officers with medals and financial aid while they recovered.
The driver is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries and damage to property. He has yet to issue a statement.
