The National Bureau of Investigation Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO) arrested a Cebu-based video logger (vlogger) who was found spreading false information on social media about President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

The content creator was identified as a certain “Windy,” a resident of Barangay Lagundi, Municipality of Oslob in southern Cebu Province.

She was arrested on March 20, 2025 for violation of Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 with a penalty of about six years imprisonment and fines of around P200,000.

In a document sent by NBI-CEVRO, it was learned that a television network complained against the suspect for an altered post of its news content wherein the President appeared as though he pushed for the legalization of the use of illegal drugs.

The NBI supervising agent pulled up the social media post through a cyber patrolling ordered by NBI Director Jaime Santiago.

As of this writing, the suspect is detained at NBI-CEVRO’s facility.

The arrest of the suspect was announced by Santiago to members of the national media to remind peddlers of bogus information that the long arm of the law will reach them eventually.

In a report by GMA-7’s primetime newscast “24 Oras,” the 39-year-old suspect begged for forgiveness from the President and said that she used the material to gain views for her content she has to monetize after she lost her regular job.
