Six foreign nationals on a trek to Sibulan town from Valencia town in the Province of Negros Oriental have been reported missing.

The six foreigners left the jump-off point in Sitio Lunas, Barangay Malabo, Valencia at about 8 a.m. on March 19, 2025 on their way supposedly to Balinsasayaw Lake. The trek route to Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes is within the Mount Talinis range that spanned the Municipalities of Valencia, Sibulan, and San Jose.

The trekkers, a mix of Russians, Germans, and Canadians, did not reportedly hire a guide. 

The information on missing persons was posted on the social media page of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO).

On Friday, March 21, 2025, rescuers found two of the six trekkers at around 10 a.m.

The two were said to be found in Barangay Malabo, the entry point, according to Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of NOPPO.

The search and rescue operation of the police and personnel of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) on four other missing trekkers is ongoing, as of posting time.
