Authorities in Ilocos Norte have taken custody of at least 1,426 firearms, as of March 19, 2025, since the implementation of the election gun ban on January 12, according to the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO).

Most of the firearms were surrendered or deposited at police stations, while others were seized by virtue of search warrants.

Some licensed firearms were also turned over by politicians for safekeeping.

The firearms will be transferred to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office to prevent their use in the upcoming elections.

Police assured the public that the election period remains peaceful, with no incidents of violence recorded, so far.

They will continue to monitor areas of concern, including Pagudpud, Solsona, Pasuquin, Badoc, and Laoag City, which were flagged previously during the 2022 elections.
