Schools in Dagupan City are set to serve as voting centers for the upcoming elections, with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ensuring stable internet connectivity for smooth transmission of results.

A total of 30 schools have been designated as voting centers where internet service providers recently conducted signal testing.

Aside from USB modems, which will serve as the main transmission device, 21 voting centers will also receive satellite internet through Starlink as a contingency measure.

“Ang nakakatuwa, mabibigyan tayo ng Starlink. Supposedly para lang ito sa mga far-flung areas pero mabibigyan tayo,” City Election Officer Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento said.

Among the schools that will receive Starlink is West Central Elementary School 1.

Assistant Principal Marilou Taminaya welcomed the development.

“Mas okey para mapabilis transmission tapos walang aberya,” she said.

COMELEC assured that no signal issues have been reported in the city's previous elections.

“Contingency lang ito, priority pa rin natin ‘yung USB modem for transmission,” Sarmiento added.
