The affidavit of 16 families of victims in alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) in Metro Cebu are among complaints sent to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands against former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
At least 30 families in Cebu City gathered evening on March 14, 2025 to watch the livestreaming of the pre-trial hearing of Duterte at the ICC courtroom for alleged crimes against humanity that he is facing.
Atty. Neri Colmenares, one of their legal counsels, joined them in the gathering who assisted in enlightening the families on the court proceedings. However, no one among the families granted an on-camera interview, citing security reasons.
Colmenares said that since the House Quad Committe hearings have started, several of the families have executed formally their affidavit with the help of cause-oriented group, Bayan Muna, and a religious organization.
Colmenares called on families of other EJK victims to file formal complaints in order to strengthen cases on crimes against humanity against Duterte.
However, he said that complaints should be filed before September 23, 2025 which is the next hearing set for Duterte on confirmation of charges.
