Face-to-face classes in Cotabato City were suspended for two days due to extreme heat.

The local government implemented the class suspension on March 13 and 14, 2025, due to the hot weather.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA, the heat index in the city on Friday, March 14, reached 42 degrees Celsius.

Classes have resumed this week after the heat index went down to 38 degrees Celsius.

In General Santos City, residents have started wearing protection from the sun to prevent illnesses caused by the hot weather.

A fruit vendor, Gerald Edaño, wore a cap and a sweatshirt while selling fruits on the streets.

“Wala pa naabot ang mahal na adlaw, init kaayo. Murag pila ka minute murag mukirig na ba ka,” Edaño said.

PAGASA said the heat index in General Santos City on Monday, March 17, is 39 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA reminded the public to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and stay hydrated to prevent heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.
