Two people died while four others were injured after a military truck hit a multicab in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

In a video footage, the two vehicles are seen traveling in opposite directions when the multicab turned left and got hit by the military truck.

Police said the driver of the military truck, a private first class, allegedly ignored the stop light.

“Siya ang pinaka-last nga convoy sa Army ug gi-disregard niya ang stop nga signal mao to nadumbulan niya ang multicab nga pa-left,” Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (PPO) Spokesperson, Captain Geraldine Botanas, said.

Two passengers of the multicab, a 57-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, did not reach the hospital alive.

On the other hand, four other passengers of the multicab are recuperating in the hospital, as of this writing.

The military truck driver was taken into police custody temporarily. However, he will likely be released after the Armed Force of the Philippines (AFP) and the family of the victims reached an agreement.

“Base sa report sa imbestigador nga naa na ang Army, nag-coordinate na sa ilaha ug tua pa sila karon sa Laguindingan MPS for the compromise agreement,” Botanas added.
