With the dry season approaching, resorts in Calasiao, Pangasinan are preparing for a surge in visitors with a 50 percent increase in guests by April 2025.
At a resort in Barangay Ambonao, staff were seen vacuuming and adding chlorine to the pools early morning on Monday to ensure cleanliness.
The resort has four pools, including two private pools, and spends up to two hours daily on pool maintenance.
Aside from cleanliness, the resort management is also focusing on safety.
“We have lifeguards po. Anytime na may mangyari, nagtatawag po tayo agad ng for emergency po,” Virgie Abulencia, the Resort Assistant Manager, said.
The resort features over 20 cottages surrounded by tall trees, providing a cool and relaxing atmosphere.
Cottage rentals range from P150 to P700, depending on size, while entrance fees remain at P80 to P100. The resort is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
To further ensure security, the resort has eight lifeguards, with some stationed at every pool.
“Alert kami sa swimming pool pag maraming naliligo. Nakakalat po kami lahat diyan sa gilid para iwas-aberya po,” Albert Gabica, a lifeguard, said.
Calasiao has at least six resorts, all monitored by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The MDRRMO is also ready to conduct lifeguard training to improve safety measures.
“Para masigurado na in the event na magkaroon ng insidente sa kanilang resort, may nakahandang may kaalaman at kakayahan,” Kristine Joy Chan-Soriano, spokesperson of the Calasiao DRRM Office, said.
