A 45-year-old fisherman who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl was arrested in Bonggo Island, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

According to the Maguindanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO), the suspect and the victim are relatives.

The suspect identified as alias “Negro” allegedly asked the parents of the victim to allow her to stay at his house to supposedly accompany his wife while he will go fishing.

However, the suspect allegedly brought the victim to a secluded area and assaulted the victim sexually evening on March 14, 2025.

The next day, the victim and her mother went to the barangay to report the incident, prompting authorities to launch an investigation.

Police assured the family that they will bring justice to the victim.

The suspect may face rape and child abuse charges.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man was also arrested in the same town by virtue of a warrant for abduction with rape.

The suspect was considered number three most wanted person in the town.
