Authorities arrested two people and seized alleged smuggled petroleum products in Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.

Personnel of the Sitangkai Maritime Law Enforcement Team (MLET), Tawi-Tawi Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), and Regional Maritime Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region intercepted a motorized banca loaded with around 2,000 liters of petroleum products worth around P130,000.

The suspects may face charges for alleged violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863).

The seized petroleum products were brought to the Sitangkai MLET for custody.

“Ang operasyong ito ay bahagi ng patuloy na kampanya ng PNP Maritime Group laban sa smuggling at iba pang iligal na aktibidad, upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan at kaayusan sa ating bansa,” the PNP-Maritime Group said.
