A whirlwind struck an area in the Municipality of Murcia, Province of Negros Occidental and was caught on video.
The whirlwind occurred in Bangga Puyas, Barangay Blumentritt past 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Heard in the video is an explosion of power lines of a substation of Negros Power because of strong winds.
The roofing of a warehouse in the vicinity of the whirlwind was peeled off and carried by winds swirling rapidly.
According to the Murcia Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, no one was reported injured in the incident.
Damage left behind by the natural phenomenon is being assessed, as of this writing.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Murcia said they responded to an alert of what was believed initially to be a fire incident. They found out upon arrival at the scene that a whirlwind had occurred.
Restoration of power supply is being attended to, as of posting time.
