Authorities continue to demolish illegal structures and resorts built within the no-build zone along the coast of Sta. Ana in Cagayan.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 said the demolition is part of an order to remove 23 resorts violating environmental and building codes.

Of these, 22 beachfront establishments were constructed in coastal and forest areas in Sitio Nangaramoan, Barangay San Vicente, while one was in Barangay Patunungan.

The DENR explained that the establishments violated Section 78 of Presidential Decree No. 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, which prohibits occupying forest land without a license, permit, or lease agreement from the government.

Resort owners were notified before the demolition was carried out.

Authorities are enforcing strict compliance with environmental laws to protect the coastline and prevent other unauthorized developments.
