A 32-year-old man died while three others were injured after they were electrocuted while installing solar streetlights in Cagayan de Oro.

Police said the four touched a live wire while installing the streetlights in Barangay Bulua.

“Disgrasya nga natapik nila ang wire, kanang main line so, mao’y hinungdan nga nangakuryentehan ang mga empleyado,” Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, said.

Police added that safety precautions may have not been observed, which resulted in the incident.

“Kato gyud, ang hinungdan gyud katong live wire so, siguro, sa ilang safety precautions sa ilang trabaho, wala nila na-observe, so mao’y hinungdan sa maong insidente,” Viñas added.

The four were brought to the hospital but one of them died.

Because of the incident, power in the area was affected but the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Company (CEPALCO) deployed its personnel to fix the problem and restore the power supply.
