Two persons were arrested for human trafficking while five were rescued, including persons of minor ages.

After receiving information on young girls being offered to male customers in an entertainment joint in the Municipality of Liloan, north Cebu Province, personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation Mandaue Cebu District Office (NBI CEBDO) conducted monitoring and operation against the suspects.

Upon validation, it was confirmed that transactions offer sexual services of women to male customers in the said joint that sells liquor.

One of the men arrested deals with male customers, and that the girls can be taken home.

“Moduol siya per table, pulos lalaki murag siya mo-offer, maoy amo na-establish and once mo-offer, iya dayon na tawagan (girls), moabot ang (girls). Kani si certain “Bogart” kuyog ang babaye,” Atty. Niño Rodriguez, senior agent and case officer, said.

The operatives who posed as customers requested a number of girls who upon arrival at the location were rescued by NBI CEBDO.

The women ages 22 years old, 18 years old, two 16 year olds, and 14 years old were rescued.

The minors were taken into the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The two pimps were determined to be ages 29 and 19 years old. They were arrested immediately.

The two pimps reasoned out that the women were the ones who asked them about opportunities to earn money.

Charges for qualified trafficking in persons were filed against the two persons arrested.

Authorities reminded parents to always keep watch over the activities of their minor children.

“Relationship with the children dapat responsible parenthood i-exercise, kahibawo sila dapat lang asa ilang mga anak kung gabii, (kung) makita (nga) naay change sa lihok especially minors,” said Arnel Pura, NBI CEBDO supervising agent.
