Power consumers in the Province of Negros Oriental are advised of widespread brownouts in two Sundays of March 2025.
Atty. Fe Marie Dicen-Tagle, general manager of Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative (NORECO) II, announced that the power outage is based on an advisory of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
NGCP will shut off power supply in the province on two Sundays, March 9, 2025 and March 23, 2025 to enable enlargement works on NGCP cables in the 69kv Amlan substation.
Amlan substation supplies electric power from the Municipality of Amlan to the Municipality of Siaton.
The power interruption will start at 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the said dates.
The 13-hour power outage will affect the Municipalities of Amlan, San Jose, Sibulan, Valencia, Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita, and Siaton; and the City of Dumaguete.
Tagle said that the improvement works are in preparation for the dry season.
