A woman in Agoo, La Union is mourning the loss of her five pet dogs, which were allegedly poisoned evening on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Kate Nalyn Bulacan, the owner, said her dogs — Snappy, Yeona, Hayen, Lambana, and Negra — were healthy and active before foaming suddenly at the mouth the next morning.

She found some of them dead near her store, while another was moving barely inside their house.

“Tiyak na nilason ang mga alaga ko,” Bulacan said.

She said she discovered food allegedly mixed with poison in the area where her dogs died.

Bulacan later learned that a neighbor was allegedly responsible.

The neighbor reportedly admitted to the act and blamed the dogs for the death of their chickens.

“Kung nagkasala ang aso namin, sana sinabi nila sa amin. Nagpunta sana sila sa barangay,” Bulacan said,

She also said the neighbor was unsure how many chickens were killed.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) has condemned the poisoning, and called it an act of animal cruelty.

“This is very cruel. We condemn this act of cruelty… Bawal ito sa ating batas and siyempre, napaka-immoral naman nito,” AKF Program Director Atty. Heidi Marquez-Caguioa said.

AKF is investigating the incident to hold those responsible accountable.

The organization also reminded pet owners to be responsible while ensuring the safety of people and other animals around them.

The caretaker of the chickens is yet to release a statement, as of this writing.
