Police on Thursday, February 27, 2025, said the suspects who robbed a pawnshop in Davao City may be part of an organized crime group.
“Organisado sila and there must be tipster, very accurate ‘yung mga actions nila,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director, Col. Hansel Marantan, said.
In a CCTV footage, three armed men entered the pawnshop and held the employees at gunpoint. The suspects then carted away jewelry worth more than P40 million.
The suspects ran away when their getaway vehicle failed to start.
One of the suspects was arrested at the Bankerohan Public Market. Authorities recovered from him an M16 rifle, a 9mm pistol, and jewelry items.
He will face charges for robbery in band, illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the election gun ban.
In another video footage, the other suspects are seen changing their clothes, walking away, and taking a tricycle as if nothing happened.
Operatives are still hunting them down.
“Doon sa mga perpetrators, meron kayong choice, your choice is to surrender but we will go after you,” Marantan said.
The pawnshop remains closed, as of this writing, while investigation continues.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) Director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, offered a P100,000 cash reward for anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of each suspect.
