The Cebu City Government has raised in a blotter former mayor Michael Rama's failure to return a government-issued vehicle.
Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia confirmed about the filing of a blotter at the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 7 in an interview with members of the media on February 26, 2025.
However, Garcia did not provide details on the content of the blotter.
He said he has entrusted the matter to the City Legal Office.
Garcia has urged Rama to return the vehicle, citing that it is a property of the government.
On February 19, 2025, City Hall sent Rama a demand letter but he did not heed the request to have the vehicle returned within 72 hours.
Meanwhile, Rama said that he will not issue a statement yet on the issue.
In a letter reply by Rama’s legal counsel, it was pointed out that Rama remains chief executive of the city and has the right to use the government vehicle being the incumbent mayor.
The letter reply underscored that there is no record available which shows of the implementation of an Ombudsman order on Rama’s dismissal from the service.
