One person was killed and three others were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash in Mariveles, Bataan.

Police said a motorcycle driver who was under the influence of alcohol collided head-on with an oncoming tricycle and a kolong-kolong (motorized sidecar).

LTCOL. Dennis Orbista, chief of the Mariveles Police Station, confirmed the motorcycle driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

"‘Yung driver natin ng vehicle three, lasing siya. Eh, dahil sa kalasingan, sumalubong siya sa tricycle, head-on collision," he said.

"Lasing siya eh, so hindi na niya siguro naano ‘yung speed niya kaya ng head-on collision siya doon sa kolong-kolong," he added.

The driver of the kolong-kolong died from the impact while the motorcycle driver, the tricycle driver, and one tricycle passenger sustained injuries.

The victim's family expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss.

"Di ko talaga totally alam, tinawagan lang ako ng anak ng bunso sabi nga po, wala na si Papa, nabigla ako. Maaga akong bumangon kasi nag-request siya [na] gusto niya[ng] daw ulam is sinigang na bangus… nabigla ako ngayon ganito na lang aabutan ko," Marissa Malumbay, the partner of the deceased driver, said.

Authorities urged motorists to drive responsibly to prevent accidents and protect lives.

They are preparing charges against the motorcycle driver, who has yet to issue a statement.
