A 72-year-old farmer was gunned down outside his home in Barangay San Vicente East, Asingan, Pangasinan.
The victim was identified as Eluiterio Malong.
The suspect has not been identified, as of this writing.
According to Malong’s family, the victim had just stepped out of the gate to go to his farm when gunshots rang out.
His relatives remain tight-lipped about whether the victim had any known enemies.
His grieving family is calling for justice. They urged authorities to solve the case quickly.
“Kaya po humihingi ako ng hustisya na sana mabigyan ako ng justice,” one of his relatives said.
PROBE POINTS TO REVENGE KILLING
Initial investigations revealed that the victim had multiple gunshot wounds.
Police recovered six bullet casings and three slugs from a .45 caliber gun from the crime scene.
Authorities also discovered that Malong was facing charges, including frustrated homicide.
“As to the background check ng ating victim, may mga na-file po na case against doon po sa victim natin. May ongoing po siyang hearing for frustrated homicide sa ating MTC (Municipal Trial Court),” PMAJ. Katelyn May Awingan, Chief of Asingan Police, said.
She believes revenge is the strongest possible motive behind the killing.
“As of now, ang pinakamataas ang probability of motive ng pagpatay po dito sa victim ay revenge,” Awingan said.
