A gubernatorial aspirant in Misamis Oriental has filed a petition to recall the appointment of the commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) due to potential conflict of interest.
Former Misamis Oriental Second District Rep. and aspiring governor Juliette Uy filed the petition asking the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to recall the appointment of Brigadier General Michele Anayron, Jr.
According to the head of Uy’s legal team, Anayron’s assignment as 4ID chief allegedly violates the Omnibus Election Code since his father is running for mayor in Sugbongcogon town, which is under 4ID’s jurisdiction.
Angel Lim said.
Anayron explained earlier that the Philippine Army is an apolitical organization and is not under the local chief executives.
He said he has been serving the elections in Northern Mindanao several times and no complaint was filed against him.
As of this writing, Uy’s camp is awaiting the response of the poll body to the petition.
