Police arrested one of the suspects in the shooting of a barangay watchman in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.

With the help of witnesses, police identified and arrested one of the two suspects in Dagupan City.

“Sa tulong ng saksi, nakilala ‘yung suspek at nahuli sa Dagupan City,” PLTCOL. Ferdinand Lopez, Chief of Calasiao Police Station, said.

Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name, as they continue to track down his accomplice.

The arrested suspect denied any involvement in the crime.

The victim, Michael Meneses, had served as a barangay tanod for over a year.

Investigators believe his work as a police asset in anti-drug operations may have been a motive for the killing.

“Siya ay tumutulong sa PNP, sa mga pagsugpo sa iligal na droga,” Lopez said.

Barangay officials described Meneses as a peace-loving and well-respected community servant.

“Mabait na tao, walang kalaban. Tahimik lang siyang tao,” Geraldo Andaya, Lupon Chairman of Barangay San Miguel, said.

Meneses’ family continues to cry for justice.
