With two months left before the 2025 elections, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan has begun extensive signal testing to ensure smooth transmission of votes, particularly in remote and island barangays.

In Dagupan City, signal testing started last week, with the service provider coordinating with local election officials to assess network stability.

“Dito sa Dagupan City, basically ‘yung signal modem ang gagamitin namin,” Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento, Dagupan City Election Officer, said.

Results showed no major signal issues in areas tested within the city.

“Maganda ang connectivity dito sa Dagupan,” Sarmiento added.

COMELEC-Pangasinan said signal testing is ongoing in other towns and cities to identify the best transmission devices for polling precincts and canvassing centers.

Service providers have also visited Sangguniang Bayan session halls, which will serve as canvassing venues during the elections.

“Nauna na kasi ang testing ng signal, majority ng mga LGUs okey naman,” Atty. Ericson Oganiza, Pangasinan Provincial Election Supervisor, said.

COMELEC said signal testing is a crucial part of election preparations.
