Several families were evacuated preemptively due to flooding in Davao de Oro on February 25, 2025.
In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Davao, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said among those who were evacuated were residents from New Bataan and Nabunturan towns.
The local government of Nabunturan reported in a Facebook post that at least 40 families in Barangay Basak were evacuated.
The residents affected are staying temporarily at the Basak Evacuation Center and were given hot meals and other assistance.
A landslide was also reported in Barangay Bayabas.
PDRRMO Operations Division Head, Allen Baco, said these areas experienced flooding due to incessant rains.
Classes and work in schools were also suspended in the towns of New Bataan, Monkayo, Montevista, Compostela, Maragusan, Laak, Nabunturan, Maco, Mawab, Mabini, and Pantukan.
State weather bureau PAGASA placed Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental under yellow rainfall warning as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
