A Cuvier’s beaked whale was found dead floating near the Sta. Ana Wharf in Davao City.
A concerned citizen found the carcass of the whale and reported it to authorities.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Sub-Station Sta. Ana responded immediately and coordinated with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and other agencies concerned.
Based on assessment, authorities said the whale measured 17.3 feet in length, 8.4 feet in width, and weighed around 700 kilos.
The cause of death is yet to be determined, as of this writing.
