A 23-year-old man reported to have gone berserk hacked dead his own father and another elderly neighbor in the Municipality of Oslob, southern Cebu Province.
The incident happened morning on Friday, February 21, 2025 in Barangay Luka.
The man was pinpointed as the person who hacked dead his 70-year-old father and a 75-year-old neighbor.
The suspect also sustained wounds on his hand and feet after he was shot by responding policemen when he tried reportedly to attack the cops.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to seek a comment from the suspect while he was on board an ambulance, but he refused.
Aside from being handcuffed, the suspect's legs were tied.
According to Oslob Police, a sibling of the suspect sought their assistance to have him arrested.
The sibling said that the suspect and their father had a heated argument prior to the hacking incident.
The sibling also said that she saw the suspect pulling out a bolo. She sought immediately the help of policemen.
Upon her return to the house, she saw that her father was already wounded.
The police also learned that another person was also hacked.
Police further learned that the suspect is into bizarre practices such as killing animals as an “offering.”
The authorities confirmed that the suspect is not on the drugwatch list.
“Hindi siya drug personality, wala din siya sa listahan ng drug list natin. Talagang ganito lang talaga, ang background niya kapag umatake ang problema niya sa pag-iisip. May sinasabi siya sa atin na meron siyang paniniwala na merong nagdidikta sa kanya. May bumubulong sa kaniya, to do this,” Police Major Jude Cebrero, chief of the Oslob Municipal Police Station, said.
Meanwhile, the remains of the other victim was taken to a funeral homes in Alcoy, about two towns away.
His family has called for justice over the death of the victim.
“Nakit-an nako’ng nagtighayâ siya, [naay] samad, naa diri, naa pa diri gamay. Mora lagi siya’g baboy (Nakita ko na lang siyang nakabulagata, na may sugat dito at may maliit na sugat dito. Para siyang baboy,” a child of the 75-year-old victim said.
