Bus and van terminals in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, are experiencing an increase in passengers heading to Baguio City for the Panagbenga Festival, going up by 40 to 50 percent.
Among the early travelers were German tourists Marion and Rainer Rabiger, who are excited to witness the festival’s grand activities.
“Yes, I hope. I enjoy!” Marion said.
“I am excited to see the dances on Harrison Road. That will be fine and very exciting,” Rainer added.
MORE BUSES DEPLOYED
With the high volume of passengers, Victory Liner Terminal in Dagupan has deployed over 50 bus units, including those with special permits.
“Kahapon pa lang, marami nang nag-i-inquire. Meron na ring gustong magpa-reserve,” Melchor Lopez, Terminal Master of Victory Liner, said.
Buses bound for Baguio now depart every 10 minutes to minimize passenger waiting time.
However, due to expected traffic, travel time may take up to three hours.
Aside from buses, van terminals in Dagupan City reported a 15 percent increase in passengers, most of whom are festival-goers.
Vans that used to wait an hour for passengers are now fully loaded within 30 to 45 minutes.
“Sa araw na ito, medyo mabilis-bilis ang kargahan namin,” Teddy Perez, Pangasinan Coordinator of Pines Garage, said.
There is no shortage of vans as additional units from San Carlos, Lingayen, and Manaoag are on standby.
The fare remains at P180.
With more visitors heading to Baguio City, authorities advise travelers to plan their trips early and expect possible delays due to heavy traffic.
