Mount Pulag’s Campsites 1 and 2 were closed temporarily after authorities found the areas overwhelmed by garbage.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced the closure to allow for thorough rehabilitation and to promote discipline among visitors.
"Moving forward, penalties will be imposed on campers found to have left their trash at the site," the agency said.
DENR urged all visitors to follow Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the natural beauty of Mt. Pulag.
