Two students were stabbed in a brawl in Iloilo City. Parents of minors involved will be summoned.
The students of Iloilo City National High School in the District of Molo were on noon break when the incident happened outside of the campus on February 20, 2024.
It was learned from Molo Police that two groups of students already had a fight while inside the campus, but during lunch break, the squabble lingered.
One of the students suffered a minor injury, while the other was taken to the hospital. Three other students were taken into police custody and are set to be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Molo Police are still investigating on the motive of the stabbing incident, as of this writing.
As of posting time, the school has not issued a statement yet.
In a report of GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, a case conference will be facilitated by the CSWDO on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
In an interview by Sevein Hope Gegantoca with Leonore Enriquez of CSWDO, the parents of the students involved in the incident will be summoned for a meeting with the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children, the Philippine National Police, officials from the Department of Education, and the school administration.
Enriquez said that referral of the youth for a rehabilitative counseling is part of the intervention.
CSWDO expressed alarm on knife-wielding students.
The ages of the students involved in the brawl and stabbing incident range from 13 years old to 17 years old.
