A fish supplier was robbed of over P100,000 in San Enrique town, Province of Iloilo.

Engelyn Pabilona was on her way home to San Enrique from Passi City on board a tricycle with her two helpers evening on February 18, 2025 when three persons flagged down the vehicle in Barangay Camiri, San Enrique.

The three suspects declared a holdup.

“Nag-declare ng holdup ang tatlong suspect. Tinutukan ito ng alleged short firearm at itak ang biktima,” according to Police Lt. Christy Val Dalde, chief of San Enrique Municipal Police Station.

The suspects took Pabilona's bag that contained P159,000 in cash, and fled toward Passi City.

According to the police, it is possible that Pabilona's workers are involved in the incident. It is also possible that other persons knew of the huge amount that the victim has that night.

“Inside job at saka mayroon ding (posibilidad) na may nagplano na i-hold up ang biktima,” Dalde added.

In February 2025, four successive holdup incidents have been recorded in the Province of Iloilo.

A fuel tanker driver lost P300,000 to robbers on February 10, 2025 in Pavia, Iloilo.

On the following day, an ambulant vendor of herbal products fell victim reportedly to two holduppers in Santa Barbara.

On February 18, 2025, two men held up an Indian national in Barotac Viejo.

One of the suspects was arrested.  He was found to have possessed a firearm and suspected shabu.

“Kung makikita natin sa investigation ngayon, hindi natin ma-link sa isa’t isa na may koneksyon ang mga insidente. That’s why, tinututukan natin ang imbestigasyon,” Dalde added.

Despite the successive incidents, Police Major Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said that the public need not worry because the authorities are monitoring closely the said cases.
