A motocross rider was shot dead while trailing through a mountainous area in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

The victim was a motocross enthusiast and an employee of the municipal government.

Police said based on accounts of the victim’s companions, they were conducting a trail ride morning on Sunday, February 16, 2025, when they noticed that the victim was no longer following them.

They started searching for the victim until they found him dead in the afternoon.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the head. The gunman may have used an M16 rifle.

Police ruled out robbery as motive since the motorcycle of the victim was not taken away.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the family of the victim for a statement, as of this writing.

Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive.
