One of the two suspects who allegedly robbed a gasoline station in Pangantucan, Bukidnon was killed by authorities while the other was arrested during hot pursuit operation.
The suspect killed was identified as a 24-year-old resident of Barangay Inug-og, Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur.
Police said the suspects allegedly robbed a gas station morning on Saturday, February 15, 2025, and escaped immediately on board a vehicle.
Their vehicle was flagged down at a checkpoint, but they allegedly sped up and hurdled the checkpoint, which resulted in an encounter.
One of the suspects was hit and the suspects’ vehicle fell into a canal. The other suspect escaped.
“Ang maong sakyanan nga gigamit sa pagpanulis, nahulog kini sa usa ka kanal sa maong area ug natumba ang maong sakyanan dayun girespondehan sa atong kapulisan ug nakita nga adunay usa ka indibidwal nga naigo,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joaan Navarro, said.
Seized from the suspects’ vehicle were a grenade, several firearms, and ammunition.
The Bukidnon Police Provincial Office has coordinated with authorities in Cotabato City as the getaway vehicle used by the suspects was reportedly a stolen vehicle.
“Nag-coordinate na ang atong Bukidnon Police Provincial Office didto sa Cotabato kay reported kini siya nga stolen vehicle sa Kabacan, North Cotabato,” Navarro added.
The other suspect who escaped was arrested the next day.
“As to the testimony of the witness, katong mga gipangtulis sa gas station nagkanayon man ni sila nga duha kabuok ra ang (suspek). Kaning arrested individual nga buhi, mao kini siya ang nagtutok sa cashier ug kato pud isa nga namatay,” Navarro said.
The suspect arrested is facing charges for robbery, attempted murder, alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591), and election gun ban.
