At least 32 volcanic earthquakes were recorded on Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island, according to an advisory of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) advisory at 12 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Sulfur dioxide flux released by the volcano reached 4,604 tons on February 16, 2025 that generated a 200-meter tall, moderate plume which drifted west of the volcano.
The volcano edifice is inflated, PHIVOLCS added.
Alert Level 3 (magmatic unrest) prevails over Kanlaon Volcano which straddles between municipalities and cities of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
