The Baguio City government on Thursday announced that work in government offices will be suspended from 3 p.m. onwards on Friday, February 14 to allow employees to celebrate Valentine's Day with their loved ones.

In a report on GMA News Online, the city government issued Memorandum Order No. 30, Series of 2025, which provides that the suspension of work seeks “to afford city hall employees some much needed quality time with their families and loved ones this Valentine’s Day.”

But the city government noted that the suspension does not cover those who are working in the frontlines.

“However, those department providing frontline service for peace & order, revenue collection, disaster risk reduction and management, CCTV and emergency 911 operations, sanitation, and health shall continue to report for work to ensure continuity of vital services to the public,” the city said in a Facebook post.

A similar announcement was made last year.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong suspended work in the city government to allow employees to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their loved ones.

In Memorandum No. 28 series of 2024, Magalong said the work in the Baguio City government will be suspended starting 3 p.m.
