A policeman was arrested in an entrapment operation in General Santos City for alleged extortion.
Intelligence operatives of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) arrested the suspect evening on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, inside the police station where he was assigned.
The suspect is a staff sergeant.
A woman whose husband was detained complained after the cop allegedly demanded money amounting to P10,000 in exchange for her husband’s release.
With not enough money on hand, the woman decided to report the same to authorities.
Police said the suspect has allegedly been extorting money for nearly 10 years.
“Ang ating biktima hinihingian ng P10,000 to facilitate the DRU-arrest (suspect). Nicomedes Olaivar Jr., said.
The suspect refused to comment. He may face administrative and criminal charges.
