Five people were injured after branches of a tree fell on a house when strong winds battered Polomolok, South Cotabato.

“Buhawi ba kalit lang man kaayo gud, taligsik, nibundak wala mi kabantay kay naa man mi sa sulud sa balay naniudto,” resident affected, Julito Rencio, said.

Those who were injured include Rencio’s wife, his 13-year-old son, his 19-year-old nephew, and his son’s two classmates.

“Kusog na kaayo ang ulan, naa mi sa sulud, mao to akong asawa nadisgrasya na diay diri kung walay nakabanag nga red patay na tingali ako asawa,” Rencio added.

Personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) already responded to the area. The local government also provided assistance to the family.

“Dapat gyud unta kanang naay kahoy sa palibot dapat putlon gyud na siya delikado man gud, di nato mahibal-an kung daot ang panahon, kusug ang hangin,” Barangay Palkan Chairwoman, Avelina Rencio, said.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA, the bad weather condition experienced in Mindanao was due to the easterlies.
