Up to 121 campaign materials posted in non-designated common poster areas in Davao City were taken down on the first day of the campaign period for national positions on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
These include campaign paraphernalia posted on electric posts. Posters of local candidates with names of national candidates were also removed.
The campaign period for local positions will start on March 28.
“We encourage candidates for local positions na umiwas na maglagay sa mga obvious places na kung saan ipinagbabawal ng ating batas,” Commission on Elections-Davao (COMELEC-11) Director, Atty. Michael Abas, said.
Campaign posters are prohibited in bridges, shrines, trees, schools, government buildings, electric posts, and other areas outside the designated common poster areas.
Campaign posters in private properties are allowed with the owner’s permission.
“Even sa nakadikit sa mga koral, kasi those are private properties, premises. So, ang atoa nalang hulaton dinha nga ang owners nga magreklamo kasi walay pagtugot o walay consent,” COMELEC-11 Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Gay Enumerables, said.
Representatives of candidates may get the campaign posters removed at the warehouse of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
In General Santos City, authorities also removed oversized campaign posters.
“Sa lahat ng national candidates na magdidikit ng kanilang mga posters ilagay po natin sa tamang poster areas para hindi po matanggal ng Task force Baklas,” Gensan City Election Officer, Atty. Sitti Sharmaine Garangan, said.
